Fudan-Tuebingen-(and Friends)
Workshop on the Relativistic and Exotic Universe
18-20 September 2024, Fudan University, Shanghai
Black holes, neutron stars, galaxies, and the early Universe can be used as laboratories for testing fundamental physics. In the past 10 years, a new generation of observational facilities (e.g., gravitational wave laser interferometers, very-long-baseline-interferometry facilities, new X-ray observatories, etc.) has opened a new window to explore the relativistic and exotic Universe. This workshop will focus on the physics and astrophysics of the most extreme environments and the most violent events in our Universe, whose observations can permit us to study the physics at very high densities, strong gravitational fields, and strong magnetic fields. Such extreme conditions cannot be reproduce in our laboratories on Earth and therefore astrophysical and cosmological observations represent our unique possibility of testing physics in such conditions. The workshop will also serve as a platform to discuss collaborations between the high energy physics and astrophysics groups at Fudan University and at the University of Tuebingen.
